Women at Work

Talking about women rights and gender equality in general is not an easy topic. Coming from a country where for years women have been treated differently from men in all aspects of life, makes me appreciate more the efforts and work that a lot of people, organizations or countries put towards gender equality. We see a lot of gender inequalities at workplace settings but this is because women are treated different from men even outside workplace.

It all starts from home.

The way a man treats his partner, a father his daughter or a brother his sister tells a lot. If the gender equality is not provided and taught at home, then there is no way it will happen in a workplace. Why should a man be paid more than a woman for the same value of work? There is no answer to this question as it has no logic behind it. Men and women are born equal, therefore there is no reason why one should have more privileges than the other. Woman need to work harder in a workplace to get noticed because it is always assumed that men are better at doing something. Is that true though? Of course no! A lot of woman throughout history have proven that they are as much capable of doing work as are the men. Not only women are not given the right credits for all the work they do, but they also face a lot of other issues such as violence and harassment at work. The video below is a very good summary of the position of women at work and what can be done to close the gaps between men and women and bring equality to workplaces.
