Businesses sought to sense and respond to rapidly changing customer demands. Online conferencing, online shopping, smartphones, texting, e-mails have all become essential tools of business. Information systems are an important factor in shaping a business model. A business model describes how a company produces, delivers, and sells a product or service to create wealth. This pandemic time has proven that information system technologies are very important in a business and they can affect the existence of it in the market. During 2020 businesses needed to adapt quickly with the change from in person operations to almost everything online. This time of adaptation brought many investments in the information system technologies from all organizations as it was crucial to continue operating and still make profits even from a lockdown. What I learned from another class on MIS is that when investing in a new information system there are 6 strategic business objectives that firms want to achieve:

Operational excellence
New products, services and business models
Customer and supplier intimacy
Improved decision making
Competitive advantage
Survival.
The adoption processes can cause a lot of stress to the management of the organization as well as to all the employees. But in order to achieve all the strategic business objectives the adaptation needs to be active, meaning that there needs to be an engagement from all the stakeholders of the organization to this process.
